Chile RUT/RUN Validator
Online Chilean RUT/RUN validator. Verify Modulo 11 and check digit K. QA.
About Chile RUT/RUN
RUT and RUN are the unique national and tax registration numbers used in Chile for individuals and organizations.
This tool generates valid Chile RUT identifiers, verifying check digits (including character 'K') using the standard Modulo 11 formula.
Anatomy & Structure of Chilean RUT/RUN
The Chilean RUT/RUN comprises a 7 or 8-digit numerical base followed by a check digit:
| Position | Field | Length | Meaning & Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 7/8 | Base Serial | 7 or 8 digits | Unique identification serial assigned to an individual (RUN) or corporation (RUT) | 12.345.678 |
| Trailing | Check Digit (DV) | 1 character | Modulo 11 checksum with cyclic weights [2 to 7], yielding 0-9 or letter K | 5 |
Official RUT/RUN Validation Algorithm (Chilean Modulo 11 with K)
SRCeI and SII apply Modulo 11 with cyclic factors [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] right-to-left:
Remainder = (Σ (d[n - 1 - i] × [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7][i % 6])) % 11; DV = 11 - Remainder
- 1. Traverse base digits from right to left.
- 2. Multiply digits by cyclic weights 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 2, 3...
- 3. Sum products and calculate remainder: Remainder = Sum % 11.
- 4. Check = 11 - Remainder.
- 5. Conversion rule: If Check == 11 -> "0"; If Check == 10 -> "K"; else -> String(Check).
- 6. RUT is valid when the trailing character matches Check.
