REGON Calculation & Validation Algorithm (Modulo 11)
REGON validation applies positional weights with Modulo 11:
DV = (∑ di × Weights[i]) mod 11 (if remainder = 10, DV = 0)
- 1. Remove spaces and non-digit characters.
- 2. Validate that the sequence has 9 or 14 digits.
- 3. For 9 digits: multiply by weights [8, 9, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7] and calculate remainder by 11.
- 4. For 14 digits: multiply 13 digits by [2, 4, 8, 5, 0, 9, 7, 3, 6, 1, 2, 4, 8] and calculate remainder by 11.
- 5. If the remainder is 10, set the expected check digit to 0.
- 6. Compare the obtained value against the final check digit.
