About the Argentina CBU
The CBU is a standardized 22-digit bank account identifier utilized in Argentina to uniquely locate bank accounts for transfer routing.
This tool generates and validates CBUs consisting of two numeric blocks, verifying both control digits applying a weighted Modulo 10 algorithm.

CBU Validation Algorithm (BCRA Weighted Modulo 10)
The BCRA establishes 2 check digits calculated via Modulo 10 with cyclic weights [7, 1, 3]:
DV = (10 - (Σ (d[i] × [7, 1, 3][i % 3])) % 10) % 10
- 1. Block 1: multiply the first 7 digits by cyclic factors [7, 1, 3].
- 2. Sum products, Remainder = Sum % 10, DV1 = (10 - Remainder) % 10.
- 3. Compare with the 8th digit.
- 4. Block 2: multiply the 13 account digits by cyclic factors [7, 1, 3].
- 5. Calculate DV2 and compare with the 22nd digit.
- 6. CBU is valid when both check digits match.
