Luhn Validation Rules
Official algorithmic verification for Austrian tax numbers:
Sum = ∑ [ (i % 2 === 1 ? DigitSum(dᵢ × 2) : dᵢ) ]; CD = (10 - (Sum mod 10)) mod 10
- 1. Cleaning: Strips hyphens, slashes, and whitespace.
- 2. Length Check: Ensures exact length of 9 numeric digits.
- 3. Office Validation: Checks that the first 2 digits match a registered Finanzamt code.
- 4. Checksum Check: Applies the Luhn algorithm to confirm the 9th digit.
