Dominican Republic RNC Validator
Online Dominican Republic RNC validator. Verify format and check digits.
How is the RNC validated?
The RNC is the taxpayer identification number assigned to corporate entities by the Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII) in the Dominican Republic.
This tool generates and validates RNC numbers, checking verification digits using the official weighted Modulo 11 formula.
Anatomy & Structure of Dominican Tax ID (RNC)
The Dominican corporate RNC consists of 9 digits in 3 segments:
| Position | Field | Length | Meaning & Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Entity Classification | 1 digit | 1 (Commercial Company / SRL / S.A.), 4 (Governmental), 5 (Non-profit) | 1 |
| 2 to 8 | Sequential Number | 7 digits | Sequential fiscal registration number assigned by DGII | 3012345 |
| 9 | Check Digit | 1 digit | DGII Modulo 11 checksum with custom remainder rules | 6 |
Official RNC Validation Algorithm (DGII Modulo 11)
DGII applies weighted factors [7, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2] with remainder 0 and 1 rules:
S = Σ (d[i] × w[i]); Remainder = S % 11; if Rem == 0 -> DV = 2; if Rem == 1 -> DV = 1; else DV = 11 - Rem
- 1. Multiply first 8 digits by weights [7, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2].
- 2. Sum all multiplied values.
- 3. Find integer remainder: Remainder = Sum % 11.
- 4. If Remainder == 0, DV is 2.
- 5. If Remainder == 1, DV is 1.
- 6. Otherwise, DV = 11 - Remainder.
- 7. Conforms if the 9th digit matches the evaluated check digit.
