About Mexico RFC
The RFC is Mexico's taxpayer registration number issued by the SAT, mandatory for all economic activities.
Our dummy generator provides structurally valid RFC numbers with a valid SAT homoclave for accounting software testing.
Anatomy & Structure of Mexican RFC
The RFC comprises 12 characters (Corporate) or 13 characters (Individual):
| Position | Field | Length | Meaning & Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 or 4 | Initials / Legal Name | 3 or 4 letters | 4 letters for individuals or 3 letters for legal entities | AAAA |
| Date | Birth or Incorporation Date | 6 digits | YYMMDD format | 800101 |
| Penultimate | Designated Homoclave | 3 characters | Unique homoclave generated by SAT | ABC |
| Last | Check Digit | 1 character | SAT Modulo 11 checksum with weights from 13 to 2 (0-9 or A) | 0 |
Official RFC Validation Algorithm (SAT Modulo 11)
SAT calculates the check digit using descending weights from 13 to 2:
S = Σ (Value(c[i]) × (13 - i)); Remainder = S % 11; if Remainder == 0 -> "0", if Remainder == 1 -> "A", else 11 - Remainder
- 1. If base string has 11 chars (corporate), prepend space to reach 12 positions.
- 2. Map characters: 0-9 to 0-9; A-Z to 10-35; space to 37.
- 3. Multiply character values by descending weights from 13 to 2.
- 4. Compute sum of products and evaluate Remainder modulo 11.
- 5. If Remainder is 0, DV is "0". If Remainder is 1, DV is "A". Otherwise, DV is 11 - Remainder.
- 6. Conforms if last character equals computed DV.
