Panama RUC Check Digit (DV) Validator
Validate online whether the 2-digit verification code (DV) of any Panama RUC matches the official DGI algorithm rules.
About Panama RUC DV Validation
This validator verifies whether the two check digits declared at the end of a Panama RUC mathematically correspond to the weighted checksum of the base registration number.
Invalid check digits prevent electronic billing and tax filings on Panama's e-Tax 2.0 government platform.
Anatomy of RUC with DV
Standard tax identification format per Panama DGI regulations:
| Position | Field | Length | Normative Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prefix / Base | Base RUC Number | Variable (4-20 chars) | Identity card or corporate registration entry in the Public Registry. | 155694-1-846152 |
| Separator | DV Literal | 2 letters | The 'DV' abbreviation marking the check digit boundary. | DV |
| Suffix | Check Digits | 2 digits | Official two-digit control code generated via DGI Modulo 11. | 48 |
DV Verification Algorithm (DGI Panama)
Mathematical checksum validation criteria:
Expected_DV = DV1 + DV2 recomputed via rotating Modulo 11
- 1. Tokenization: Separates the base taxpayer identifier from the provided 2-digit verification code.
- 2. Independent Recomputation: Runs the rotating Modulo 11 algorithm across the base to calculate the expected two check digits.
- 3. Exact Match: Compares the submitted check digits with the recomputed ones. The number is valid if they match exactly.
