How is the CLABE validated?
The CLABE is a standard 18-digit bank account number required in Mexico for sending and receiving domestic interbank wire transfers (SPEI).
This tool generates and validates CLABEs, calculating the 18th verification check digit utilizing the standard weighted Modulo 10 formula.
Anatomy & Structure of CLABE Interbancaria
The Mexican CLABE consists of 18 digits organized into 4 segments:

Official CLABE Validation Algorithm (Banxico Modulo 10)
Banco de México verifies CLABE by applying cyclical weights [3, 7, 1] to the first 17 digits:
DV = (10 - (Σ ((d[i] × [3, 7, 1][i % 3]) % 10) % 10)) % 10
- 1. Multiply each of the first 17 digits by weights [3, 7, 1, 3, 7, 1...].
- 2. Reduce each product modulo 10: (digit × weight) % 10.
- 3. Compute the sum of all reduced products.
- 4. Calculate check digit: DV = (10 - (Sum % 10)) % 10.
- 5. Conforms if the 18th digit matches the calculated DV.
