About Mozambique NIB (Bank Account Identification Number)
The NIB (Número de Identificação Bancária) is the official national banking standard in Mozambique, governed by the Bank of Mozambique and processed via the SIMO network.
Composed of 21 numeric digits, the NIB provides account-level routing for interbank settlements, identifying the credit institution, local branch, individual account, and ISO 7064 MOD 97-10 check digits.

Official SIMO / Bank of Mozambique validation algorithm:
DV = 98 - ((N19 * 100) % 97). Full NIB % 97 == 1.
- 1. Take the first 19 digits of the NIB (Bank + Branch + Account).
- 2. Compute the remainder of this number divided by 97.
- 3. Multiply by 100 and calculate the new remainder modulo 97.
- 4. Subtract this remainder from 98 to obtain the 2 check digits (DV).
- 5. The full 21-digit NIB satisfies: NIB % 97 == 1.
