PIS/PASEP Validator
Validate PIS/PASEP numbers (Social Integration Program) quickly and securely.
About the PIS/PASEP Validator
The PIS/PASEP Validator checks if a number is mathematically valid. PIS/PASEP (Social Integration Program / Public Servant Patrimony Formation Program) is an 11-digit number used to identify Brazilian workers.
This tool is useful for developers who need to validate the PIS/PASEP format in forms and systems. The validation is purely mathematical and does not query any Caixa Econômica Federal database.
Anatomy & Structure of Brazilian PIS/PASEP
The worker registration number (PIS/PASEP/NIT) has 11 decimal digits formatted as NNN.NNNNN.NN-D:
| Position | Field | Length | Meaning & Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | Base Registration | 10 digits | Worker registration sequential number issued by CEF or Social Security | 1234567890 |
| 11 | Check Digit | 1 digit | Integrity checksum computed via Modulo 11 Caixa formula | 8 |
PIS / PASEP Checksum Algorithm (Caixa Modulo 11)
PIS checksum is calculated across the first 10 digits using positional weights:
Sum = Σ d[i]*p[i]; Rem = Sum % 11; CD = (11 - Rem >= 10 ? 0 : 11 - Rem)
- 1. Multiply first 10 digits by weights [3, 2, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2].
- 2. Calculate sum of all multiplications.
- 3. Obtain remainder of sum modulo 11.
- 4. Calculate difference D = 11 - remainder.
- 5. If D is 10 or 11, check digit is 0; otherwise check digit is D.
- 6. Sequences with 11 identical digits are rejected.
